Went to my first sales meeting at CSC today. It was a disaster. I made the same mistake I had about 4 years back at an interview – insufficient preparation. I could not even answer questions about our previous clients.
However, I had some takeaways from the meeting. I realized that big corporates are not very easy to handle, they want a lot of certifications and assurances about the quality and an existing track record as well. With that they try to judge the capability of the vendor. I think we are too small right now to handle these big companies. I want to get some related experience before I can go all out.
Our company website is down -some technical problem. It’s like the entire website has been wiped clean. I was having a problem when I tried to upload a new file last night. The ftp login wasn’t erroring out. When I tried the logins for the email and control panel today, they weren’t working either. Finally, I thought of checking the website and it took me to a page saying that the domain was now registered. I have to call them and find out what is going on. Fortunately, I do have all the files on my computer. So I should be able to get it back up as soon as the logins are all back on.
